December 2005 & Closure

Author: Peggy Tsatsoulis

We've all heard the line, when one door closes another one opens. Well, this is the way that I feel about 2005. Entertainment channels are doing recaps of all of the notable, entertaining, and even crazy events of this year. I can't help but reflect on all that has happened.

2005 offered some unique challenges endless choices, and perspective altering experiences. As I watch all of these year end wrap up shows, I am reminded of two things:

1) There is a good bit of time left in 2005. Time where we concentrate on giving to those we love and to those who are less fortunate. To those closest to us, it is the thought and intention of love behind the gift that means the most-whether it is acknowledged or not. This intention of love and goodwill lifts our spirits and keeps us ALIVE!

2) The month of December is our last opportunity of the year to tie up loose ends. It is an opportunity for closure. It is an opportunity to settle a conflict, apologize for a mistake, or reconnect with someone who hasn't been at the top of our list. It is our last chance of 2005 to appreciate this year for all of the challenges and opportunities it has brought. It is our last chance to savor the growth and learning that has resulted at this stage in our lives. It is our opportunity to reevaluate our vision and our purpose; as a means of moving closer to who we are meant to be.

So, on Dec. 31st, let us celebrate the end of a significant year, closing the door so to speak. At the same time, invite the opening of 2006's door, and look forward to all of the great opportunities and possibilities with anticipation.
