The Internet has revolutionized the way people live. According to a current poll, seventeen percent of people in America (men and women) are now meeting on the Internet.
The number of Russian women seeking a foreign husband has been estimated to be about 1% of available women. This is hardly the revolution that the media is making it out to be. However, it is one of the hottest topics of discussion in Russia today.
There are about 250 million people living in the countries making up the former Soviet Union. Substantially more than half of them are women, and approximately twenty percent of those are single and available women.
That means that there are about 250,000 women seeking Western men for husbands at any one time.
250 million people times 50%, the percentage that are women times 20% that are single and available times 1% looking for Western men.
That number may be low, especially considering that there are over a million websites dedicated to this topic. But at any rate, it gives us an idea of the magnitude of the number of women in the potential database.
If you have visited a number of these sites, you realize how many women are cataloged on each one. Many sites have ten thousand or more women listed on them. There is probably a substantial overlap, where the same woman is listed on more than one website.
However, the sheer number of women makes it difficult, if not mathematically impossible, to be able to wade through the entire database.
Consequently, you must develop some kind of search criteria when searching the database of women who are cataloged on websites. Most websites have a 'search engine', which allows you to apply criteria to narrow your search. This is an extremely useful tool, which you should be using.
