What is Google Relevance? Relevance is how closely the keywords in your adcopy and ad groups match the keywords on the landing page. Not just 200 keywords dumped on a page to match but how relevant it is to what is searched for. If you are searching for Gardening Equipment and you end up finding Buy Turf Here on the landing page you are not going to be very happy. Even worse, the ad copy might say Gardening Equipment Here and it might end up being a page with Buy Turf Here, then you get the double whammy of thinking you are on to a winner and then ending up with something totally different. Google feel very strongly about this and they want their users to find the most relevant information possible. Why? Because Google dont want to lose their users to Yahoo!, Msn or any of the other major search engines happy to snatch Googles traffic (which is a massive percentage). One bad experience with a search engine can influence your decision to change search engines, people tend to gain a sort of loyalty when they begin using a search engine, this loyalty is based on how their results pan out. If they find what they want and fast, they are very likely to carry on using that particular search engine. Google want their users to find relevant content and this is why they have made changes. Because of Google Relevance, many Adwords users and fellow Internet Marketers have lost thousands of dollars. Google made changes last month in order to keep the content on their pages relevant. Googles entire system depends on relevance. These changes have seen bid prices rise to $12 per click and CTR drop down low. This is before we even get onto the struggling rookies entering the ruthless world of Internet Marketing.
