Relationship Advice: Get the Vision

Author: Jeff Herring

There is a proverb that says without a vision, the people perish.

I think its much the same way with this relationship we call marriage.

And yet most couples spend more time planning their yearly vacation than they do considering what kind of relationship they would like to have.

Doesn't that sound kind of silly?

Get the vision

What might it be like to have a marriage that fits with the following definition of vision:

The ability to see beyond the probable, by envisioning the possible; a state of affairs that you desire to bring about and believe in. The act of dreaming without restriction, opens up possibilities that you could not, or would not have considered before.

One reason for the high divorce rate is that most couples stumble into marriage believing they can just make it up as they go along.

When you stop and think about it, this is not a great way to approach such an important relationship.

So that brings us to these relationship vision questions:

1. What, if any, relationship vision are you currently operating under?

2. If you could set it up any way you wanted it, how would it be?

3. If you knew you couldnt fail, how would you design your marriage relationship?
